The Beauty of Routine (and I'm off!)

Here it is, Thursday (again!). Maybe it is just because for 10 days my boys were sick, but time seems to be flying by lately.

This week has been somewhat unproductive to me. Of course with the thought of attending the Savvy Blogging Summit, I've been a little preoccupied thinking about that. It's probably only the fact that I haven't been on our usual routine, though. Monday I wasn't able to do menu planning. Tuesday we had to go out early in the morning. Yesterday, I spent the day trying to clean and do laundry (typically a Friday or Monday routine). Today, it's still early, but I'm sitting here thinking of how I am behind and need to make a grocery list, get coupons together for that and actually go, figure out what to have for dinner, making sure I go get diapers because we are out (how'd that happen...I stockpile them?!), and the list goes on.

If you are a productive person and can get by with everything you need to do, without sticking to a routine each week, good for you! Me, I find that a routine makes things go smoother, I am less stressed and definitely way more productive! Not to mention, it helps me better manage my time (Definitely useful when I was working as a nurse!) Of course, my two year old benefits as well, because he has to go along with me and I relay a more calm demeanor to him.

So, if you're like me and are frustrated by the fact that you haven't done anything you had planned this week, I suggest you write down what needs to be done and list it in order of priority. Accomplish this week's tasks and then maybe over the weekend jot down all that you have to do in a typical week and assign those tasks to certain days. You and your family will definitely benefit from a structured routine!

If you're a list person, here are a couple links for grocery lists and daily/weekly planning:

For me....it's off to finish the laundry, make my grocery list and see what else I can accomplish!

  2. Thanks so much! I definitely needed that today :)
This week has been so crazy and just off for me. I've accomplished several things as far as getting the house back in order, but at the same time, I feel a little out of sorts. I guess that's part of the reason I haven't blogged in so long - things were so crazy with Leo gone.
Hope things are getting back to normal for y'all!
