Potty Training Update

While Ian was at his grandparents house this weekend, he was such a big boy with his potty training. It almost makes me sick, because he is not that way with me! He would tell his grandmom when he needed to go and he stayed dry over night and then went in the morning.

Unfortunately, we've not been on things as much as we should here. I think I'm getting tired of having to remind him! Monday he wore underwear and did really well. He did have one accident. Today, he did really well when we went out shopping and stayed dry through nap. He went when he got up, but that was the end of it. He refuses to tell me when he needs to go, but is very aware of how to do it on his own! I think he gets lazy and just relies on me to remind him. I'm not quite sure how to get over that one. He not only wet, but decided to do something even better in his swimming suit...that didn't have a liner...which made a mess on the back porch. Nice way to end the day.

He's also back to not wanting a diaper at night. I'm kind of torn between the idea of making him go right before he goes down and putting him in underwear overnight or just forcing him to stay in the diaper. Part of me thinks that maybe he thinks he can hold it all night and part of me thinks he is just uncomfortable or hot.

If anyone has any experiences or suggestions regarding these things, I'm open to help! I'm ready for him to be completely trained (with an exception for #2).

  1. try and think of ways we were taught as kids to do things. Not just for potty training but anything.
I think showing him how nice it is to wear underwear and go when he needs to might get your point across so showing him how bad it is for not going
